Introducing Our New Bamboo Mural Collection

After months of painting, designing, colour testing, and refining, we’re thrilled to share our newest collection: the Bamboo Mural Wallpaper.
Inspired by Japan’s Arashiyama Bamboo Forest, this design captures the tranquillity and elegance of towering bamboo groves, hand-painted by Sian at full scale with traditional calligraphy ink.
From Inspiration to Creation
The idea for this mural began on Sian’s visit to Japan last year, where she walked among the tall, swaying stalks of the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest. The immersive calm of that place stayed with her and later became the seed of this design. If you’d like to read more about her trip, you can visit our blog post, Our Visit to Walpa in Japan.
Back in the studio, Sian painted the bamboo trees at full scale using sweeping ink brushstrokes, some of which she demonstrated live (you can read more about that in our blog post, Live Wallpaper Painting at the Hope & Ivy x The William Morris Society Launch).
What began as months of painting grew into many more months of careful digital work, piecing the artwork together in Photoshop to create a seamless, flowing mural; just as Sian envisioned after her visit to the towering bamboo forest.
The result is a mural that feels as though it has been painted directly onto your wall, preserving the subtle textures and natural flow of bamboo.
The Colourways
After careful colour testing, we are proud to launch three colourways and one very special edition:
Bamboo Green
Fresh and uplifting, Bamboo Green brings the vitality of a living bamboo grove indoors. The natural green tones echo the leaves of real bamboo, adding life and energy while retaining a calming presence. This colourway pairs beautifully with Japandi interiors, where organic wallcoverings and natural textures create harmony between minimalism and nature-inspired design.
Bamboo Grey
Created for lovers of toned-down, quiet minimalism, Bamboo Grey offers a versatile backdrop with subtle ink textures and soft neutral tones. Its understated design pairs seamlessly with a wide range of interior styles, allowing your furnishings and architecture to take centre stage while the mural quietly complements them. Perfect for serene, nature-inspired spaces, it harmonises with neutral palettes, natural woods, and soft textiles to bring a calm, sophisticated atmosphere to any room.
Bamboo Beige
Warm and serene, Bamboo Beige captures the gentle light of sun filtering through bamboo. With its subtle vintage, earthy character, this colourway brings depth and softness to a space, making it an ideal choice for Scandinavian interiors with a cottage twist. Its neutral palette is understated yet timeless, blending effortlessly into both contemporary and classic settings while adding a quiet sense of harmony and romance.
A Standalone Special Edition: Bamboo Gold Burgundy
Unlike the three fibrous colourways above, Bamboo Gold Burgundy is a standalone special edition with its own material, dimensions, and specifications.
Set against a deep burgundy backdrop with a refined silk-like texture, the bamboo motifs shimmer in a luxurious gold-effect finish. This is our first design to combine both gold and silk elements: a rare and distinctive surface that adds richness, depth, and movement. As light shifts across the wall, the mural reveals a soft lustre that evokes the quiet luxury of a bamboo grove at dusk.
Printed on 100% recycled PET, this mural is not only eco-friendly but also highly durable, dimensionally stable, and fire-rated Class A (ASTM E84), making it suitable for both residential and commercial spaces. Available by the metre, in panels, and in rolls, it offers flexibility while standing apart as a statement piece in our collection.
Our Exclusive Launch Event
To celebrate the launch of the Bamboo mural collection, we are hosting a small, exclusive event in collaboration with Argile Paint - the French paint company whose premium, high-pigment paints have been chosen for the Louvre’s walls. We’ve been using more and more of their colours in our projects and are excited to share what’s next in our partnership soon.
The Bamboo Collection is now available to order online. Explore the full range, and bring the tranquillity of a bamboo forest into your home.
